Well Water
What a girl called "the dailiness of life"
(Adding an errand to your errand. Saying,
"Since you're up . . ." Making you a means to
A means to a means to) is well water
Pumped from an old well at the bottom of the world.
The pump you pump the water from is rusty
And hard to move and absurd, a squirrel-wheel
A sick squirrel turns slowly, through the sunny
Inexorable hours. And yet sometimes
The wheel turns of its own weight, the rusty
Pump pumps over your sweating face the clear
Water, cold, so cold! you cup your hands
And gulp from them the dailiness of life.

[Now it is time that gods came walking out]
A three month ritualistic performance that concluded with a series of photographs and videos. Done in two phases: first, a private ritual phase of masticating paper and documenting the process; next, an observational period of documenting the ritual oblations as they alter with time while stored in sealed glass jars. The project title, [Now it is time that gods came walking out], is taken from an untitled poem by Rainer Maria Rilke and deliberately links the work to the idea of religious, but ultimately personal, rituals. August - September, 2008
PHASE I: MASTICATION RITUAL
Oblations from 7/21/08 and 7/23/08, archival pigment prints
